About Us | About the Founder & Publisher![]() Husband Kevin, Kathy Regan, and daughter Brianna.
Kathy I. Regan, the founder and publisher of Our BerkshireGreen, formed the company in 2008 and launched their first publication, Our BerkshireGreen Magazine & Resource Guide, in April of 2009. She began her career in graphic design but in the early '90s, for personal reasons, found it necessary to devote all of her time to studying alternative and integrative medicine, which not only saved her life but also opened a new world for her.
Friends suggested that Kathy write a book about her experiences, but life got busy, time slipped by, and she started a successful professional organizing company working with local businesses and nonprofit organizations. It wasn't until 2005, when Kathy and her husband Kevin (owner of Hartsville Design Woodworking,www.HartsvilleDesign.com) were blessed with a baby girl, that she seriously started thinking about a way that she could become a stay-at-home mom, utilize her graphic design and organizing skills, and share the health and environmental information she had learned. Publishing a local green and healthy magazine and resource guide, in an area so rich with these resources, proved to be the perfect solution. Our BerkshireGreen is currently a quarterly publication (although exciting changes are being planned!) that is free to the public and distributed throughout the Berkshire region. The publication is printed with solvent-free, vegetable oil-based ink on paper that is Forest Stewardship Council certified and made with a full 30 percent post-consumer recycled wastepaper. Most of the editorial content in Our BerkshireGreen is contributed by our community members. Although material by professional writers is certainly welcome, Kathy likes to encourage anyone with a passion about what they do to submit material for consideration. Her goal from the beginning was to create a publication that would give the community the opportunity to connect, share knowledge, and inspire one another while helping to support our local economy. Our BerkshireGreen offers many free services, among them popular networking events held at fine locations throughout the county. No admission charge or reservation is required for most events, and you will find great company, interesting speakers, delicious free appetizers, and a place for business owners to network and display their advertising material. For an email invitation, join Our BerkshireGreen's mailing list. You will also want to check out their user-friendly, self-operated community event calendar at www.OurBerkshireCalendar.com. Find out what's happening around town, and take advantage of this free service to instantly upload and publicize your events. It's all about community! |
